The Haller Pecan Farm was established in 1965 by Richard and Gay Haller. It has an orchard of 800 trees. It was sold in 2017. This is a look at pecan harvesting there.
The Haller Pecan Farm orchard is on deep sandy loam soil in northern Hill County, Texas.
* A tree shaker, attached to a tractor, was used to shake the pecans to the ground.
* After shaking, pecans were picked up from the ground with a mechanical harvester.
* Pecans were cleaned, sorted and dried to correct moisture level after harvest.
* Open bins were used to dry the newly harvested pecans.
