The pecan harvest process:
The Haller Pecan Farm orchards are on deep sandy loam soil in northern Hill County, Texas.
* A tree shaker, attached to a tractor, is used to shake the pecans to the ground.
* After shaking, pecans are picked up from the ground with a mechanical harvester.
* Pecans are cleaned, sorted and dried to correct moisture level after harvest.
* Open bins are used to dry the newly harvested pecans.
